Depends on how many petitions the officer who got yours has to look thru & where yours is in the pile. Mine went to an offcier on the 19th of September & was approved the 27th. I got lucky. Others have waited weeks. Hopefully yours wont take as long to get approved.

Figure a couple of weeks to hear something. The good news is your file is no longer gathering dust. Best of luck to you.

If you haven't gotten anything back as of yet, it maybe taken about 180 days to
process, call the nsc thay may not want to tell you but beleive me they now how
long it's taking for a petition to be approved.
I too have thought about sending a letter to my congressman. How does it work?
Please email be back? I have gotten so depress waiting on my Husband to get
here. I have statred to over eat and become extremely fatigue.

If they say its been with an officer since 2/12 then I would expect an approval sometime this week, barring they dont send an RFE. It generally doesnt take them that long to approve once an officer finally has it on their desk. Keep us posted and let us know what happens.

I'm curious about the "writing to the congressman" approach as well,
how did it work?? Did it in any way speed up the process? Thanks!

Becky,
I think you are confused about the timeline. Once the application gets to an officer it usually doesn't take that long for the approval. It seems like the WAIT time (180 days) is waiting for the application to actually GET on someones desk to look at.

It's very simple to contact your senator and/or congressman. Either look on the web for their website/email/mailing address. Make the letter brief and to the point to they will actually read it. I also recommend emailing and sending a letter via US post. I found that they respond faster to email than the latter. I've contacted both my senator and congressman (MN)...I was surprised at how fast they replied (email). I'm really not sure if they have any "pull" in this matter...but I feel as a tax paying citizen that I should inform my representatives about how slow the processing centers are and that as Minnesotans (along with other midwest states) we have no choice but to go through Nebraska for a processing center.

Good luck and contact this group if you need any help/info along the way. Everyone has been so great in replying to all our questions.
