Hi,
I have a question on obtaining B2 visa for pleasure. Is it okay to apply for a B2 visa in a country other than my home country. I know that it is not allowed any more for F1 visa. But what about B2 visa? I am a Korean citizen, and currently stay in Canada on a work permit. I stayed in the U.S. on F1 visa for 6 years. Would it be okay to apply for B2 visa in U. S. Consulate in Canada? Thanks.

Thanks for the answer.
What I am concerned is that the U.S. Consulate webpage says that it is generally difficult to get a visa in a country other than home country. With that, can I still manage to obtain a visa in Canada?
Also, I have another question. My F1 visa is still active with OPT recommendation. If I apply for B2 visa with it, what would be the Consulate's response? Also, in case that my B2 visa application is denied, would my F1 visa with OPT still be valid? Thanks.

I can only talk a bout UK Embassy but there were loads of non Brits applying for Visa'a, eg if you live in UK but were from a non VWP country. The lady sitting next to me was in that situation, East European married to a Brit.
Ring and ask.

Actually, I haven't heard this about F-1s, either. Generally, it is best
to apply in your home country. By law, that consulate *must* process your
application (not necessarily approve it, of course).
If you are a long-term or permanent resident in another country, you can
usually apply in that country, too. The policies on that vary from one
consulate to the next. If you are a short-term resident or visitor, it is
a discretionary decision of the consulate, and many consulates will not
allow you to apply for a visa at all.
In Canada, the situation is slightly special in that if you are not a
Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you need to make an appointment at
the consulate first - but if you do, it is highly likely that the
consulate will handle your case.
Exception to all of the above: if the consulate determines that you should
be subject to the security background check, they will almost always send
you to the consulate in your home country.
