Obtaining advanced parole - taking the INS receipt and going in person?
Hi there,
I applied for the advanced parole document by mail and the
approximate processing times indicated on the receipt they mailed to
me were very long. All my intended trips would probably be over by the
time I get it ...
Can I just take that receipt and go to the nearest INS office and get
the advanced parole in person?
Thanks in advance!

You could try, but be prepared for the possibility of coming back empty-
handed.Since 9/11, a number of local offices are not entertaining walk-in
applicants for Travel document. If you are in an employment based 485, they
insist that you send your applications to the Service Center, and request
them to process the application as an urgent case.
However, I think someone at the local office could give it to you at
his/her discretion, as they used to do it before 9/11.
