Oath Ceremony
Hi all,
Got a quick question. I had my citizenship interview on May 21, 2004 in
Cleveland, OH and today, June 1, 2004, I received a letter from USCIS
confirming that I am scheduled for the Oath on June 4, 2004. Yes, that
was fast. I am very surprised. The USCIS Officer told me at the
interview that they were up-to-date on the ceremonies, but I didn't
expect it to be that fast! Anyway, will I be receiving my
naturalization certificate after the ceremony? Or will they mail it to
me? Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Oath Ceremony
You will get your N.C. at the ceremony. Infact, the judge will give it to you after the oath.
Things that will happen:
1. You get there 8xx W.Superior ( ~15 minute walk from the public square ).
2. Follow the signs... The stairway is close to the elevators, one flight down.
There is no point in showing up early - nothing will start happening till the specified time.
3. "instruction lady" will explain what to do later:
(a) wait till your name is called ( they call them in batches of 5 or more )
(b) sign the invitation letter/oath appointment letter in front of clerk(???) - everything else can be filled out before
(c) sign the certificate - your green card is taken away. So, what is your immigration status between NOW and the OATH?
4. wait .... till the judge gets there ( ~1 hour)
5. s/he administers the oath.
6. people get emotional and start telling their stories
7. the judge starts handing out naturalization certificates and posing for pictures. calls 2 people at a time.
....
8. You got your NC, can definetely go home now.
You will also be given
1. letter from George W.
2. "instructional booklet"
3. 1 ( one) rolled up American flag with greetings from some organization.
If you want to apply for the passport, do not trust DoS website - check with the listed locations if they accept passport applications.

Re: Oath Ceremony
Durate:
Could you please describe your interview process?
sequence of steps and time took etc... The letter you got after the interview - what did it say? Information on date ytou filed etc will also be useful.
Do they pick the oath site based on where you live or ypu can opt for a certain site? Did the officer give an indication, at interview, when the oath might be?
My interview is in a couple of weeks.
Thanks
