Default O/T: Renewed Driver License

Hi, all. Little O/T, but I thought I'd share this as I was surprised.

Last year, when I had to renew my driver's license, I was issued one that expired one year later, due to my work permit status. This time, as I have my GC, and have to remove the conditions early next year, my card expires in June 2006, I thought my new license would be valid for only one year due to that fact. Lo and behold, a week after going to the DMV and only a half-hour wait (this time scheduling an appt, as last year I didn't, and I waited 8 hours and learned a harsh lesson!) I got my new license, and it's valid for 6 years!!! Woo hoo!!!! Just hoping they haven't made a mistake!

Congrats. Length of license validity seems arbitary. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah. I think that's why England changed. Used to be your license was valid until your 70th birthday. Now they're valid for 10 years and you have to pay to renew them.

If you mean the old green paper ones. Then yes. They are valid, just if you apply for a new one they give you the pink laminated jobbie.

What was the complication?

Seem to have forgotten your bio. FWIW, I thought you were a Brit. You're cantankerous enough to be!!

Ssssssshhhhhhhh!!!!!! Yes, next month. I was just planning on getting a haircut, but my mum decided that she wants to go to Gracelands and suggested the two of us go for my birthday. Still researching airfares & stuff, so I don't know just yet.
