NYC Inefficiency
I haven't posted on here for a while but a lot has happened in the last few
months.
First I came over on a K1 in April 2002 from Canada. Got married in July
and filed for AOS late that month. My receipt date is December 29, 2003
(yes, 2003). I had my biometrics appointment done at the surprisingly
helpful local support center here on Long Island.
For anyone dealing with NYC, I don't care what UCIS says, you have to file
WAY in advance for ANYTHING. I filed for an I-131 with receipt date of July
7th and just now have received notice on December 7th that my case has been
approved (however I still don't have the actual document in my hands).
Same deal with I-765. Sent my renewal in July and actually had to go to the
NYC office in person after 60 days because I hadn't received a response.
Ironically there was a protest that day in front of Federal Plaza protesting
the inefficiencies of UCIS.
As always, the people at "customer service" are incompetent and rude. One
"customer service rep" actually threatened me with deportion after she found
out that I hadn't changed my address (I filled out the appropriate form, but
never knew you had to call them to change it also).
Just wanted to vent a little. It's been very tough, and especially right
now where I am hoping to visit my family back home for the holidays and it's
coming down to the wire.
I'm assuming I can't travel out of the country if I don't have the actualy
Advance Parole document, even though it was approved?
Good luck to all.

Re: NYC Inefficiency
I hear you man, my I-485 was filed back in November 2002 and I have had to deal with these people too many times over the last couple of years.
They seem to consider all potential immigrants as some kind of sub-human species

Re: NYC Inefficiency
SOME stuff they rush.
Aside from the pilot program, which I was lucky to get in on, I also received both my EAD and AP inside of 3 months (both of which were from MSC).
