Congrats, Bharat! What a relief. I'm glad they're finally starting to
push the "class of 2002" through the system. Also good to know that
other NYC applicants are being sent to Garden City.

Best,

Jesse

Well getting the interview letter and actually going to the interview is not the the end...
I applied in September 2002.....Fingerprinted in January 2004.....interviewed in June 2004....no stamp received due to outstanding security background checks....up to today still waiting.....so basically I am still at the same stage as somebody waiting to be interviewed....

Finally received my interview letter! Interview scheduled 11/10/2004.
I filed AOS 7/18/02, had biometrics 5/04/04. That's about 28 months
for those who are counting.

BTW, like JR, my interview is scheduled at Garden City, on LI, rather
than at 26 Federal Plaza! Does that have any particular significance?

Jesse

I was curious as to why it took so long for you to complete the biometrics in 2004 since you filed AOS in 2002? I was under the impression that once you recieve your NOA'S after submitting AOS that you could call and schedule biometrics right away within a month or so. I may be wrong but i was just curious.

You're absolutely correct Jacob. I received my NOA 3/15/04, and had
my biometrics done about a month and a half after that.

You seem to be assuming that everyone receives their NOA shortly after
filing. Unfortunately for those of us that filed in 2002, that was
not the case; our files collected dust until they were transferred to
MSC in 2003. On the other hand, some people who have applied recently
have had their interview within three months.

Question Re: NYC Biometrcis & Interview

My husband (a UK citizen) is also applied in May 2002. We have received is the Fingerprinting and Biometrics letter in April 2004 – completing it came days after (we were lucky to get an appointment so soon). Checking on the uscis.gov site – I noticed that his I-485 was received at the MSC office on March 15, 2004. I was hopeful that shortly after the Fingerprinting and Biometrics letter – that we would receive our interview letter. No luck yet!…we’re the unfortunate ones, I suppose. There’s nothing you can do either – no one seems to know since there are no concrete timelines.

Those of you who received interview letters after your fingerprints – how long of notice did they give you to prepare for interview? I hear a interview can be scheduled up to 3 months after the letter is received.

I received an interview appointment in the mail on September 27, 2004.
The interview is scheduled for November 18, 2004. I filed for AOS in
May 2002.

Hi Julia - A glimmer of hope for us (hopefully). When checking your MSC# online - what did it say? For us, after fingerprinting status has not changed.

It says -

Your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received at this office on March 15, 2004. It is taking between 120 and 180 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete

Where are you located? I am in Queens, NY but during the AOS process we changed address and our new address was never logged properly. We filed our petition through a lawyer, and supposedly we both get a copy of the interview letter (I HOPE).

Lawyer basically advised me not to hold my breath of an appt this year (2004), but thinks 2005 might be more reasonable to assume.

I hope...someone out there...will shed a bit of light our way

Good luck w/ interviewing! Clarissa

Hi, my online status did not change so I wouldn't really advise you to
rely on it.
I am in Brooklyn.
Thank you, I hope everything goes smoothly with my interview. I'll
hold my fingers crossed and will definitely share my experience on
this board.
Good luck to you! I hope you'll hear something from CIS pretty soon.

My wife came over to NY on a K1 in March 2002. Married in Apr 2002.
INS rec'd AOS application in May 2002. Biometrics done on Mar 12,
2004. Scheduled for interview in Garden City Oct 26, 2004. That's 29
months btwn AOS reception and interview date. There's finally a light
at the end of the tunnel.
Hi,

I am scheduled for an interview on Jan 11 in Garden City. Can you please update the information about the interview. I would really appreciate it.

We filed in October 2002.
Had the biometrics done in March 2004.

Still waiting - judging by other people's trends - not an unusual amount of time.
