Default NYC AOS Wait Time

Hi All,

Here's our situation. My wife and I were married in NYC in Feb '02. We sent
in our paper work the end of February. It's now been more than 2 years and
we still haven't received our interview date. During this time, she's gone
through two advanced paroles, and one employment authorization. We received
two notices a few days ago - saying that they received our applications (AOS
& EAD). Apparently all of our files were moved out of state. Does anyone
have any more info on this and how it affects wait times?

Adding to our woes, her employment authorization expired 3 months ago. She
applied for renewal a 60 days before it expired and we're STILL waiting for
that! Just wanted to ask everyone if this was normal for NYC? Is it bad that
she's working without a valid EAD? It's really out of our hands - she
re-applied in the recomended time and we're just waiting for processing.

Anyone have any advice for us?

Thanks~!

~K

At this point i can share my situation with you. I filed for AOS in
NYC on May 21'2002 and applied for advacnced parole once. Though i
sent in my application for advanced parole to NYC office but it was
forwarded to MSC/NBC and i received a receipt from there.
Also there is one more thread of "AOS-NYC" in which Julie has written
that she received a letter from MSC/NBC for AOS interview so i am
guessing that MSC/NBC is also handling cases of NYC.So they might have
forwarded your application over there.

Hi.

Just for clarification purposes.
I did NOT get an interview date. I received a Notice of Action from
National Benefits Center saying that my I-485 application has been
received and that I need to call the customer service line to schedule
fingerprinting and biometrics appointment which I immediately did. The
appointment was scheduled for April 9, 2004. It was not a surprise for
me, because I knew that all 2003 and most of 2002 AOS cases have been
transferred to MSC/NBC for initial processing. I guess what happens
next is that the file goes back to 26 Federal Plaza for an interview.
You should get something in the mail pretty soon.
