Is it possible to have the consular official notarize or witness the I-864 during the interview? I am the USC and will be accompanying my husband to his interview on Friday 12/20/02, and I still need to sign and have the I-864 notarized. I was under the impression that as long as I was present to sign the form in front of the official during the interview there would be no problem. However, our attorney said that I would have to go to the American Citizen's Services at the Embassy to have it notarized. I searched for this topic, but nothing has been posted recently regarding this. From previous posts it would appear that the official could witness the signing, but I'm unsure if the procedure has changed. Has anyone done this recently?

Patrick,
Thank you so much for your response! I thought that it was possible, but after having a debate with the attorney regarding this issue I started to doubt myself. I think I'm just getting really nervous and questioning everything as Friday approaches! Thank you again, I really appreciate it!

Yes. I attended my wife's interview in London UK (Sept 2001) and the
consular officer signed the I-864 right there.
