A new one for us...
So my OH flew into Chicago last week after a trip to China. He's on a H1B visa and at POE the officer asked him to produce an I29 (or that's what he thinks he was asked for...can't quite remember the exact number) apparently the officer informed him that he should carry this piece of paper when travelling so that he is able to prove that he still works for the company named on his visa.
We've been here for a number of years and have never been asked for this before....anyone else heard of this one ??

Maybe the I-129? ... but this wouldn't prove he is still employed by the same company.

Re: A new one for us...
Was it something like an I-797C? (Or that could be an aeroplane LOL)
Cos I'm sure that it IS supposed to be carried by the H1B holder when entering the US.....blokey used to have his with him all the time, though he's never been asked so eventually he stopped carrying it....which actually stressed me quite a bit.....now I go with the flow.

Strict interpretation of the rules do indicate that a H1-B person should carry his I-797 with him everywhere, everyday. I never took it anywhere, but i heard stories where some ppl carried a photocopy of it with them. But when rentering the country, it is always a good idea to carry the original.
