Then I deal with all these items at least once a week before the wad of paper gets too thick. All bills I can, I pay online. Then when I have dealt with the bills/other items, I clip them in the Filing clip, ready to file them in a concertina file. It seems to work quite well, except that I'm unsure when it is ok to throw away or shred paid bills - I have some notion that I should keep them for a year or two!

I throw away a paid bill as soon as the next months bill has been paid. In other words, I keep them for a month after they've been paid. I've never needed to produce any old paper bills so I don't keep them.

My mum has done that for years, but she just sends the empty envelope back as company has to pay for the postage.

I bought a basket not long ago that has a linen liner in it with 'etc...' embroidered on it. All the "oh god what do I do with that?" stuff goes in there until I can figure out what to do with it.

I keep mine for a couple of years...but I see your point and just might do the same.

handy to have for immigration though, or anything that needs proof of residence, so it's worth keeping for a while....

About once a month we get an envelope in our mail box stuffed with adverts and coupons. I save those and stuff them in the pre-paid envelopes. I would love to see the look on their face when they open in and find a coupon for a free sandwiich at Hardees in Huntsville, Alabama. lolol

If you really want to be mean. Next time you get one from American Express and it contains a letter from the CEO with it, fill out the form in his name using their address. I am sure someone at American Express tries to process it. lolol

And thanks for the karma.

Once my hubby forgot to put a stamp on an envelope and it came right back to us. Not like in the UK where the recipient has to pay an extra charge. That's why my mum used to do it. LOL.
