Default Need to reschedule appointment b/c wife is overseas! Advice

Hi

We just got a notice for my wife to get her fingerprints for removal of
conditional status (I-751), but she's out of the country. I called the
national service center several times, and seems that the only thing I could
do was to write a letter asking to re-schedule. The appointment is for next
monday, and I'm scheduled to fly out friday.

I don't like the idea of not knowing whether they'll actually re-schedule or
not. Is it worth going down to 26 Federal Plaza (NYC) to try to get some
info? Or is an appointment rescheduling pretty common?

by the way, the fingerprinting appointment itself is at another building (on
Varick St., I think), but the people on the phone told me to send the letter
to Federal Plaza. Thanks for any info!

You don't need fingerprints for the removal of conditions.

Did your wife's I-751 get approved and the appointment is for her to go in and complete a new I-89 for the manufacture of her new green card? That requires a single fingerprint and photo and might be that now NYC is doing that at the ASC office where biometrics is normally done. If that is the case, then it is simply a matter of calling the center and having them reschedule the biometrics appointment for another date. Or the Varick Address could be the Fed Plaza Building. I don't recall what the street addresses are for the Fed Plaza Building. There are several entrances but I believe with the heightened security only one is open to the public.

Post back and let us know if your wife got the NOA approval notice on the I-751.
