need help I-140 EB1

I have am working as a research engineer and my self petition for EB1 was denied
because "Didnot have national or international rewards" or "Served as referee on
journals or editorial boards". I finished my PhD in 00' have 5 publications 9
presentations and 3 US patents. Got 21 letters of recommendation... from 5
countries. But INS says in absence of awards or status as a reviewer they are
denying the petition.
Can any one please help? Will this in any way affect a EB2 application on my behalf?
