Andy,
seems like we have similar situations, even how we met our fiance(e)s ... I also have a lot of friends in the U.S., therefore always spend my vacations over there, and I did meet my fiance through some of my friends. It's a long story, but actually I met my darling already back in 1987 during my first long stay in the States. He was one of many acquaintances I made back then, but all these years later we are now waiting to get approved to be able to start a new life together.
All this waiting is a pain, it is hard not to know anything and not to be able to make definite plans, but I know one thing: he is worth it and we will be so happy when we are finally through this process. The day I arrive in the States to spend the rest of my life with him we will look at this difficult period as a journey during which we learned patience, and learned to cherish what we have ... a strong love that withstands every test of time. :-)
No matter how long it still takes, we will not give up!!
Best wishes to you and your fiancee, too.
Monika

You made me get out the calender and check our current timeline as of today, and we are now at 218 days.. and feel more exhaustion each day that passes with no news.. So you are not alone in your timeframe.. The thing is, it just isnt the Neb service center.. it is Missouri as well..

Hi Sid and Angelika,
I have been reading your posts, too, and I feel with you. You also are having a hard time with this process. Well, it does help a bit to know we are not the only ones waiting what seems like forever! I wish both of you good luck with your case, too.
Andy,
have you heard anything new lately about the background checks or anything?? No news for us, silence.
Try to keep up the good spirit guys! (Says one who has a very hard time remaining optimistic herself.)

Exile,
Although I did not have to wait quite as long as you, (See my timeline below), I do now that the waiting is really the craps. I am shocked to see that they are really at 240 days plus, as you would think that the system would be getting better and not worse. Keep your chin up though, and take some comfort that it will be over one day soon![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Re; audit ... when we went through our K1 in 2001 we were told that Nebraska stops for an 'audit' in late September early October. Maybe this is what they are talking about? Possibly Matt or Fosy might throw some light on this for you ?
All the best

Only that my fiancee is to phone her congressman's liaison back on the 10th
when she expects to know more. I'm not holding my breath, but I will report
back regardless what happens.

Thanks for the feedback. I did just wonder if they'd made it up.
It seems like you never get the same tale twice.
