I used to live in Canada but now live in the US.

Healthcare is administered by the provinces in Canada and I know that at least some provinces have a waiting period from the time you establish residence until you are eligible for provincial healthcare benefits. For example, in Ontario there is a 3 month wait.

Ontario's health insurance plan (OHIP) is funded by taxes on individuals and businesses and also by transfer payments from the federal government so it's usually NOT free for everyone. My daughter is a student in Ontario so OHIP is currently free for her.

Although OHIP payments are nowhere near what I pay here in the US for my healthcare benefits, it's important to note that OHIP does NOT cover the cost of dental care or prescription drugs.

George Washington wasn't born in the US because it didn't even exist when he was born! Same goes for other early US presidents.

George Romney (Mitt Romney's dad) ran for the Republican nomination in 1968. He was born in Mexico.

Washington was born into the provincial gentry of Colonial Virginia;

Anyway, back to the topic... It sounds like there are lots of good reasons to naturalise, and not really any huge reasons not to. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and thoughts.

And if they aren't winning medals, you won't see that coverage on TV.
