Naturalisation
Hi all,
so I moved to the US in 2012 on a spousal visa, and married my lovely wife in August of that year. I went through the various changes of status, finally obtaining my green card which says resident since 12/03/12 and says it expires on 03/27/25. Sadly I was divorced in September 2017 when she did the dirty with another guy and left me. Am I right in thinking that I now meet the criteria yo apply for naturalization to US citizenship as I have had more than 5 years as a permanent resident? Many thanks in advance. |

Yes.

Re: Naturalisation
Sure have

Re: Naturalisation
Yes. But I must say that's an odd expiration date on your green card. Even if you got a 10-year one, the expiration date would be 12/2/2022.

Re: Naturalisation
I think the 10 years runs from when tyou obtain the 10 year green card from the 2 year conditional green cards, which would make the expiry correct.

Re: Naturalisation
Oh yes, I forgot about removal of conditions.

Re: Naturalisation
So on another note, as I was married and am now divorced, will I need my marriage and divorce certs for the naturalization process?

Re: Naturalisation
Maybe. Best to have them just in case.

Re: Naturalisation
Yes you will need them. It specifically asks for them in the instructions. |
