Default My L1a to LPR (via marriage to USC) Journey/Package/Timelines/Etc

Hi guys,

I thought I would start a new thread on my specific journey and timelines as I have not seen many on here that have made the jump from L1 to LPR.
Please let me know if you see anything glaringly wrong, or any comments you have etc.

A short summary of my situation.
I came over to the US in Aug 2017 on an L1a visa on temporary transfer to a US company that was 100% owned by the UK company I was employed by.
I had being going back and forward a few times previous to this and had started dating a USC in Nov 2016.
The plan was for me to adjust to an EB1C green card though my employment, and we completed all the paperwork, however unfortunately things did not go well for the US company and it became clear that the move to GC was not going to be an option. On 10 Aug 2018 they were sold to one of our US customers, meaning that the conditions of my L1 visa were no longer met.
I was still in the US at this point so we terminated my employment before the sale which allowed me 60 days grace to made other arrangements (FYI, lawyers could not agree whether the 60 days grace would apply if I was still an employee of the UK company).
This coincided with the decision of my girlfriend and I to get married, which we did on 16 Aug 2018. Given the timing it was a very small affair with just a few of her family there (mine could not arrange it at such short notice unfortunately).

So at this point we started preparing the paperwork for my adjustment of status.
Now I am reasonable experienced here as I am quite anal about this kind of thing, so I did lots of research into the L1a and EB1C (although the company lawyer completed it in the end) and I also spent a good few months looking at the transfer to LPR when it became clear that the company was failing.
I thought it might take a couple of weeks to complete however we hope to have the final package complete by this coming Monday which will make it about 7 weeks in total.
Given that I am not employed just now (although I have not been working on it exclusively) it has been a much longer and harder process that I imagined (as Rete might testify to with all my questions...thanks!).

So that is my story...I will start my timeline below and then add to it.
I will also post up my package (for all your review please) that we are going to send to immigration.

Timeline
12 July 2017 L1a visa application submitted (using expedited processing)
18 Jul 2017 - L1a visa initially approved
31 Jul 2017 - L1a visa interview in London
9 Aug 2017 - L1a visa issued
12 Aug 2017 - First entered USA on visa
10 Aug 2018 - Employment terminated (while still in US) so started 60 days grace clock
16 Aug 2018 - Got married!
21 Aug 2018 - Started filling in the paperwork properly

Thanks everyone. Will add more in a few days.

Thanks for keeping up to date on reporting these as it helps others.

For reference I'm also pending AOS from L1 via marriage.

I filed in December '17. AOS arrived July '18, still waiting for the interview.

Thanks for the reply mate.

Did you also apply for the EAD and travel authorisation? If so, how long did they take?

Cheers.

Very lucky timeline at <6 months through AOS, especially given you had an RFIE!

I also have my interview in Jan (10th) although my timeline is now 13 months.

Could you advise the service center you were routed to for reference to others?

Yes, I feel very lucky!
Also very happy given that I’m not working just now!

My interview is in Memphis but I have no further info than that on where the application went. The only updates were;
Application received
Biometrics appointment letter sent
RFE letter sent
Interview letter sent

All other applications (EAD, AP, etc) have only ever had one update to say the application was received.

Congrats on the interview...it must be a relief.

Congrats Aquapanther!

I've been following you since you applied like a week after me. So I'm both jealous, and a bit hopeful since you're case shows that i might NOT take 18 months.

Also thank you for keeping us updated, it helps to know you're not the only one in this situation. Especially about which notifications you've received, it calms my nerves to know that it is normal that USCIS case status is not updated after you're biometrics appointment, for example.
