Default Re: My AOS Process (so far)

10/17/2016 - Confirmed that package was received
10/19/2016 - I797C's received (1 each for EAD, AP & AOS)
10/22/2016 - Letter confirming Biometrics appointment for early November.
11/10/2016 - Biometrics completed.
01/12/2017 - EAD & AP documents were approved.

I received an email today to say that both my EAD and AP documents were approved. Great news! This means I can now apply for a drivers license here in Idaho, a resident hunters license and of course jobs. But I'm in college right now so it isn't as urgent as before!

It has been 85 days so far. Still plenty of time left for my AOS to go through.

I was going to see my Senators office today regarding the entire thing since we hadn't had any response or luck from USCIS but this came through before it. I may still consider going to see him to see if his office can get me an update on my AOS but it is likely still waiting to be looked at.

Fingers crossed it will come through sooner rather than later!

No need to see anyone yet. A typical AOS process takes about 6 months, and you're only into month 3. You're well within normal.

I agree. I was mainly going to see him for to see if he could get an update on my EAD/AP rather than my AOS. Now they've been approved it is now moot.

Maybe around the 6 month time I might go see him but fingers crossed it will be done before then.

People don't usually contact their representatives until their timeline is way out of whack. Keep in mind that AOS takes an average of 6 months, so it could take 7 or 8 months and still be within the normal processing time. There is almost nothing you can do with a green card that you can't do with an EAD/AP... and you are allowed to remain legally in the US until such time as the AOS is adjudicated.

I'm all for being proactive, but contacting your senator because you're curious about your progress is, IMO, frivolous - because nothing is wrong and nothing is likely to be wrong.

To be honest, I will most likely just wait this out. As you have said, there isn't anything special I can do with my Green card that I cannot with my EAD/AP.

The waiting carries on so I will update this again once the cards come through in the mail.

I did, in fact contact both our senators about AOS process time but we were at 9 months by then. I had an approval within 24 hours of the calls back from senators' offices - it may have been coincidence, we'll never know.

I agree with Ian, don't be frivolous about contacting representatives - there may come a point when you really need their intervention/support and it wouldn't hurt to show you've been patient.

Good luck

Green Card Approved!

Had a text & email from USCIS today to say "New Card is Being Produced"! No interview necessary so I have been waived on that part.

Very happy chappy here.

Overall, 6 months from start to finish on the AOS.

Now, onward to citizenship!

Thanks for the timeline, really useful to know considering I'll soon be embarking on this journey.

No problem! I couldn't find much up-to-date AOS timelines so I thought it may be useful!

Thanks!

Hopefully all you will not be too far behind, I had my interview waived so hopefully you having one doesn't impact the timeline too much.

Default Re: My AOS Process (so far)

Since I moved house and filed an address change with USCIS my card has been in the void. But alas, it was delivered to my old address 3 days after being posted.

Luckily, USPS held it for me (for 3 weeks..) so I finally have it with me.

Countdown to condition removal has begun.

04/25/2017 - Card delivered to old address.
05/11/2017 - After investigating, tracking and contacting USCIS. Card is finally in my hand.

Here's a caveat for anyone reading: Updating your address via the online AR-11 is a reporting requirement only and usually does not, by itself, update the address on any active case files. Rene (I think) once posted all the steps that need to be taken to ensure that everything actually gets sent to your new address - although, to be fair, even that doesn't always work.

After investigating, tracking and contacting USCIS. Card is finally in my hand.
Glad to hear it worked out well.
