Hello All,
I'm a first time poster here in need of some assistance.
I have an American friend who has a fiancée from Ukraine who is soon to be
interviewed by the embassy in Warsaw.
He has concerns about her receiving an approval if he does not attend the interview.
Is it necessary that an American man be in Warsaw for the interview? What percentage
of people have successfully gone through the process without having traveled to
Warsaw to be with there fiancée?
I should add that he has utilized an attorney for all of his paperwork and to his
knowledge all of her paperwork is in good order.
Thanks for your assistance in advance!

Don't know about Warsaw in particular, but I was the only USC there at the interview in London. As far as I know, it is not required anywhere.

Hi greg, No he doesn't have to be there for the interview. Although I'm not sure
about Warsaw, my fiance just had her K1 visa approved in Romania, and she went there
with her 3 yo son. They had no problems with this whatsoever.
Tell your friend good luck!

Normally, since the visa is for a fiance that is not in the US, there would be no
expectation by the consulate for the USC to be present.

Basically, if you have an approved I-129F petition from your service center, approval
is a given, barring the discovery of some communicable disease like HIV at the
medical exam, or the existence of a criminal record. It is not required that the USC
fiance be present at the interview. Ranjini
