MSC EAD application: NOA 1 taking ages?

I'm wondering - we sent our EAD application off and MSC received it on the 24th Sept, but we've heard nothing, and it's now 9th Oct - no NOA, receipt number, nothing. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to find out the status?
I called the local SS office to find out the status of my SSN application, they tell me that they're waiting for a response off the INS. Could this be the same situation with my EAD?
As far as I understand, my case was a very straightforward one (Immigration guy at Philly commented as such).

Hi, speedyvespa
I think we are in the same boat.
I applied my EAD on 20th Sep. and received 27th Sep, they asked an appointment by 800 call for a EAD fingerprint.
So I went to local INS support center (AOS???) for a fingerprint on 30th Sep. and that's all.
It supposed to take 2 to 3 months, I think.
Good luck~~
My timeline
-----------
19th Jun 2002: I-130 rec'd at TSC
4th Oct 2002 : I-129F NOA 1 receive by MSC
7th Jun 2003 : I-129F NOA 2 received
25th Aug 2003 : Arrived at Houston
20th Sep 2003: Apply EAD to MSC
30th Sep 2003 : Fingerprint for EAD at AOS

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, I've not even received my NOA1 yet - nothing at all. And I know that the check for the fee was cashed on the 2nd October.
Does anyone have a phone number I can try in order to find out what the hold-up might be?
Thanks!

Hmm, my EAD NOA from MSC was speedy fast. It arrived at NYC on the 30th of September, the NOA was received at MSC on October 1st, and processed and mailed out on the 2nd.
Maybe mine was fast because it was forwared from NYC though.

Hello
The MSC received our EAD application on Sept 18th and my wife went for
her fingerprints on October 1st. We still haven't seen a change in
status on the website however.
I'm hoping things go quickly as we are moving soon and need that work
permit so she can work.
Thanks
Rich
