Hi Group!
I'm gathering the paperwork to submit I-129F/K-1 paperwork for my Russian
fiancé. I've read numerous posts about the visa delays. Has Moscow
completely stopped issuing visas, K-1 in particular?

Yes Ron, Moscow is not issuing visas now even though the finacee passes the
interview. Fiancees ae told to go home after the interview and call back later.
If you are just getting started with this, perhaps you will be lucky and Moscow
will have it's problems worked out by the time your finacee gets her interview.

Good luck

I do not know about the G-3/G-4 visa as far as the American Embassy in Russia
is concerned. Sorry. I would suggest that you check with the embassy as that
particular visa is more of a diplomatic type of visa. Sorry I could not be more
help.

Due to new immigration law, Moscow hasn't issued K-1 or spousal visas
since
July 22.

What law would that be mrtravel?

Those of us waiting can get no answer from our government, but you imply you
know what
this immigration law is,
please tell us!

Do you mean to tell me that with all of this blind allegiance to
petition websites, you don't actually know there was a recently inacted
law
that is the cause of the visa delays?? Yet, people like you have
accused me of
doing nothing about the problem.... No wonder why there are such laws.
How can
you expected the people not affected by them to oppose them when the
people affected
by them won't even find out about them? I have stated multiple times on
this newsgroup
why I felt the previous petition website was bad and why directing the
anger toward
the consulate was wrong, but instead of finding out what I was talking
about, people
thought I was opposed to speeding up the process. I find it hard to
believe that with
all of this talk about contacting congressmen that people are still
oblivious to the law
that was passed by them. But... people like you will blindy sign
petitions without
understanding what the real problem is. Have you ever heard of the term
"IBIS"?
How about "Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002"
or the "US Patriot Act"?

Before people start condemning a consulate or INS, and running to their
congressmen to complain
about INS and the consulate, maybe they should complain to the
congressmen about the legislation enacted by CONGRESS. This, of course,
the same congress who thought it would be efficient to throw more I-129F
paperwork by establishing the K-3. Not only are they a lot slower in
many cases, but the manpower could be better used to speed up the I-130.
The solution was to speed up I-130, not to add more work with another
visa category.

mrtravel,
none of the things that you have mentioned directly apply to the situation
with our fiancee visas in Russia and China
I am asking you for the specific law, that you mentioned in your previous
post, that is preventing our loved ones from being allowed to leave their
country and gain entry into the United States.
if you would like to bypass the question once again without answering
directly, feel free and show everyone here your knowledge.
and please ridicule me and the others waiting for our loved ones some more
while you are at it.
by the way, what does your Russian wife think of the current situation?

P.S. I have accused you of nothing, except being an asshole, in an earlier
post.

Ummmm... could you please direct to where in the US Patriot act it
indicates anything about delaying Visas? I have searched the web and this
newsgroup and respectfully request someones knowledgeable direction to what
part of this act indcates that Visas will be delayed.
Also, if an IBIS check is done when a petition is at a service center and
IBIS checks against various agencies (ie Customs, FBI, INS, etc.) then why
does the government have to do another security check after packet #3?
Seems like the government is the one being very wasteful with its resources.
After all it was the Nebraska service center that found boxes of paperwork
that were part of ongoing proceedings. From the readings here it is obvious
that nothing speeds up or slows down the processing with the INS and if you
are like most here you are just trying to find answers without being
harassed or made to feel your question is insignificant.

I just now spoke with someone at the Consulate in Moscow.
She confirmed that G3 & G4 are also being held. She said it was a delay until new security rules are finalized in Washington. As with many things in our government, no law exists except to allow the entity to make it's own rules. This is not a bad thing in general but in our case it is absurd.

I asked you if you had heard of the Patriot Act, IBIS, or
Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002

I didn't say the Patriot Act applied here, but it does affect you and
the loss of some
of YOUR privacy rights. The point is that these things affect us, but
people that don't
bother to read such things actually thing they are great things for the
country.

Did you actually read any info about IBIS or the Enhanced Border
Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002?
