Mom's Visa Time Line Question?
Hi:
Could someone tell me how long it is taking for a U.S. Citiizen to
petition their mom from the Philippines?
It is being processed in Vermont. We have received the letter of notice
and it states it could take up to 999 days.
I was under the impression that it took less than a year. I would
appreciate any information. We received the notice in March. Thanks,
Frank.

Re: Mom's Visa Time Line Question?
The time on the receipt notice usually comes from a random number
generator; you might as well ignore it. More specifically, the I-130 is
used for a wide variety of cases that have hugely different quota backlogs
and processing times. The time on the receipt notice does not take into
account exactly which I-130 you have.
You can usually find a better breakdown of the processing times at
http://www.shusterman.com or http://www.visalaw.com. It is still a
crapshot, though.
