Just a heads up, you can get citizenship through the National Guard also if you don't want to go active duty. I had a guy in my basic training who became a citizen during his process of going to Basic Training (so he says). Either way, basic training is active duty for national guard and therefore you can apply for citizenship straight after leaving basic and going back to your home state. I would highly recommend speaking to a recruiter. They are going to be dying for new recruits. You will only have the option of infantry, armor, mechanic, artillery and some aviation MOS's.
