Medical Exam for Adjustment of Status

Hi all.
I would like to ask about the medical exam for the Adjustment of Status. I really dont see it necessary as i had a satisfactory medical exam back in London almost 2 years ago with Dr. Phelan. Why do they need another done? Also, if for some reason they are not happy with the results or something like that, can they refuse me? I am just very anxious that is all.
Dr. Phelan approved me after we had a nice talk about my condition of Depression, with which i take medication and he was happy with my progress. I have a psychiatric history and he was also aware of this. I had the blood test, and i dont have HIV, thank goodness. I do have a bad neck at the moment which needs some treatment. Could they refuse me for that?
Sorry to be a nuisance.
Joanne Ellison.

The physical you had in London is only good for one year I think. If your
AOS had been within the first year then you would not need another. The AOS
exam is needed because It is required. Hey live with it. It is the rules.

I have wondered this also. You don't say what your "psychiatric condition" is and I am not inquiring. But there are mental conditions for which they can deny you. However;if you were honest and upfront at your consular interview and have had no problems and are currently on your spouses insurance, I find it hard to fathom that you are likely to have problems.
But; I have wondered how often it is that a sucessful honest petition at the consulate is later denied at AOS interview. I would suspect that if one has not had any legal problems here in the U.S; it is very rare.
Good Luck!

Only your INS office can tell you whether you need another medical or not. However, I do believe that the medical you have already had is valid only for one year. None of the medical conditions above, could cause you to fail your medical. You will find more information at this link:

I too saw Dr. Phelan in Sept 2001. I have my AOS interview this May.
From what I understand the Medical is only valid for 12 months. I had
another yesterday and it is all much the same as the one in London -
Chest Xray and blood work etc. Costs a lot more though!!!
It is my understanding they are only looking for communicable diseases
and depression and neck pain is not relevant to this process.
Good luck - I know all too well the frustration this process can
cause.

Thanks to everyone that replied, although i found what Danny said a bit sarcastic: 'Hey live with it. It is the rules.'
Thanks again, everyone.
Thanks again, everyone.
