Medical concerns
Hello all, thank you for taking the time to read this.
I am a UK Citizen who is preparing to marry a US citizen next year, assuming we get approval for our K-1 Visa. We have not submitted the Visa yet, but are planning on starting the process in the coming weeks. I fully understand that this will be a lengthy process and take a long time to reach a conclusion.
I’ve been going through the extensive details required, and making sure I’ve prepared everything. However something has come up regarding the medical that has concerns me. Back in 2007 when a teenager, I tried marijuana once whilst on holiday in Amsterdam. I did not enjoy it and have not tried it again. However, I have been doing some reading and understand there are some absolute horror stories regarding people making admissions like this and having applications significantly delayed or rejected.
I have absolutely no intention of lying when I asked if I have ever tried drugs before, as I understand that being caught in a lie would invalidate my Visa application and bar me from the United States for life. Ethics aside, I believe that this may have been obliquely referenced in my medical record anyway, and as I have periodically been treated for generalised anxiety syndrome. I’m aware I will have to submit extensive details from my medical records as part of the process and as such information on this will possibly be visible during my medical.
At no time have I violated any laws related to this controlled substance, nor have I sought it out again. However, I am extremely anxious about the implications of this to my Visa process. I wanted to find out if anyone has had similar experiences to myself, what happened with them, and how they overcame them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Medical concerns
Not for life, used to be a 3 year delay possibly, now maybe a one year delay, I have seen it ignored there is no certainty.

Re: Medical concerns
It should not be of consequence. It was a once off, done legally in a country where it is legal, and your mental/emotional history will be documented that you are not a threat to yourself and/or others.

How does a spliff on a weekend in Amsterdam end up on your medical record? Was it medically recommended?
