You're guessing without knowledge. It's a dangerous thing to do! A lot more studying is required before you start making rash decisions. Even an intelligent person will require a good few days to get their head round the concepts. And you've got plenty of time to get yourself sorted.

No, that won't work, unless you are planning to return to the UK for Immigrant Visa processing.

If you want to do AOS in the USA, you need to submit the I-130 concurrently with the I-485. If you can't do it before the I-94 runs out, then you can't...but you should try your best. You have close to 2 months, which should be plenty of time.
