Default Married on a TN visa

I just got married last week and I am wondering what forms we need to fill out now. The I-129F is for a fiancee so what do I do now? Do I file for change of status and if so what forms do I use...also what form do I need to include if I wish to work?

And

Your husband needs to complete an I-864 and you need a medical I-693 from an INS sanctioned doctor and a slew of ADIT photos, your certified marriage certificate, long form birth certificate from Canada (not the little thing you carry with you), prior divorce papers from you both if applicable, etc. And you might want to check if the TN-1 is still valid after filing for AOS. If not, you then have to file for an EAD I-765 and if you want to leave the country even to visit Canada you need advance parole, I-131.

I'm also wondering if I should go through a lawyer or if we should try to do this ourselves? Is there a timeline difference? and does anyone know how much the lawyers charge to help you with this?

It is certainly doable yourself if you have time and patience and are the type of person who is detailed oriented. The forms are not at all difficult, nor is the filing itself.

An attorney is definitely helpful if you hire an AILA one and he/she is client oriented.

The choice is yours, of course.

Hi,
My immigration history is much the same as yours. I was in the US on
a TN visa when I got married. As far as work goes, you need to apply
for an EAD, but can continue to work on the TN visa until you recieve
the EAD.
All I suggest is have patience. I applied for my Adjustment of Status
in Jan 01 and just recieved my notice of approval last week. I had
applied for 3 EAD in the process!.
Good luck.
