So does he have diplomat status or not?

And does anyone know what then happens to an LPR-through-marriage who has to leave the country for perhaps some years due to government postings? Can she still keep her GC? Will she still be eligible for citizenship after 3 years, or is it more after 3 years of actually being in the US?
If she is an LPR married to a U.S. government official serving outside the U.S. then she might have options in terms of keeping LPR or obtaining U.S. citizenship that are not open to most others. Best to discuss a strategy with a competent immigration attorney.

A friend of mine did just that - married her boyfriend, fast track DCF, entry into the US - immigrant visa activation and soon after expedited citizenship for the spouse right before they left for next overseas assignment. I think the rule is you have to show that you will depart US within 45 days of receiving citizenship for it to be expedited with your assignment orders.
