Marriage to illegal alien/deportation

A friend of mine would very much like to marry a lady who "entered without
inspection."

She is pregnant.

Does anyone know the ropes?

Once married to me, will she be safe from deportation?

Thanks in advance.

Haha...I like how it changed from "a friend of mine" to "me" within 3 lines.

No, she won't be safe. See an experienced specialist in immigration law.

But this woman likes this guy. The chance at a green card is like an aphrodisiac. Chicks dig guys who can help them stay in the US. Then once she gets her citizenship then she can bring over her real husband. I've heard of cases where someone gets married to stay, and then used their advance parole document to return home to marry their real mate and then return with the AP as a polygamist. Now that takes guts.

Yes, you would need a lawyer.

If you're US Citizen there may be an argument fo extreme hardship (both on you and the US child). Also depends on the nationality of the mother.

If you're here on a temporary visa, your girlfriend will not be safe from deportation and she would be SOL.
