Default Marriage Certificate

We are filing for the green card (I-130+I-485) for my mother in law.

I am using an online form filling service for the green card application. They've prepared a list of things/documents to be submitted.

In that list, they've also indicated that the "marriage certifcate" of my mother in law is also "required" to be submitted.

I havent seen this requirement anywhere in the forms - and only that of the birth certificate.

Why would a marriage certificate be required in this case?

Thanks in advance.

The site probably isn't tailored to your exact needs; they are probably assuming that
usually both parents would apply.

That said, I would indeed recommend including it because INS likes to see documents
for her current life situation - even if it is not really material for her case. If
she is divorced or widowed, I wouldn't bother with it, though.
