Mail Order Groom! *HELP!*

Any ideas on the best way to support my fiance during this time of transition from England to Texas, from British to American?

I feel like in many ways he has become more patriotic after we started this immigration process. The old saying "don't know what you've got till it's gone" comes to mind. However, in this transition period it's hard not to get my feelings hurt. . .

I have trouble separating his sadness of leaving home from his excitement to start our lives together. I realize how unfair this is and I want to do better. Insights are much appreciated!
I must also say that this website has been so useful...and helpful to us both. Thanks!

I don't really have any words of wisdom, but take it day to day, focus on your future together, and let him feel his feelings, whatever they may be. Just try to realize his sadness over leaving country and family behind is real, and this is a whole new world for him to step into. Wishing you all the best. :)

Hi. My Husband moved to NY from Scotland in September. We got married 3 weeks ago. He is a bit sad and homesick. Especially since he is not working yet. It's a big culture shock as well. I think it just takes time..We've talked about it and he agreed it's just a matter of getting used to things over here.

It would be difficult for anyone to move to a new country. Especially when you are not working and jobs are scarce

I agree with Ray ;) ............... BUT !

It never seems to go away alltogether, Every 18 months or so I get the need to go home to be with those I miss so much (and for fish and chips). Yet each trip to the UK soon has me wanting to get back here within 2 weeks.

He will adapt and the pains will suside ... the patriotism may not

He's a Scot (as am I), his patriotism isn't going anywhere.

I know this is the wrong way around but, my then girlfriend and now wife moved to England July 2007.

We have a wonderful new life together but you can't replace home!! You have to support him and make sure he has means of communication with him cheaply, don't restrict how much he calls home. Skype and windows messenger are both cheap if not free. We do American things here like watch NFL, eat Tacos and fly the Stars and Stripes. I don't think there is a specific answer just be there for him.

Hope that is some help.
