Default Looking for Employment

Hi everyone. I am a US citizen and my husband is English. His visa interview is in London July 23rd and we are in the final stages of the visa process. We are wondering if anyone knows the rules on when he can start seeking employment? He will be finished at his current job next Thursday and it would be helpful to get some resumes out to prospective employers here in MN.

From what I've read, once he is over there and you two are married, he has 70 (I think) days to get his social security, and he should change his status to Conditional Permanent Resident as soon as you're married, and once that has been processed, apply for Authorised Employment. Takes about three months apparently.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. We are already married and have been for 6 years. We are filing for my husband's visa through the Direct Consular Filing for his greencard.

Excuse me, but do you know how to read English????? Would be so bad if your reply was correct for the K-1 visa who enters and marries but you are incorrect on the EAD.

To the OP he can start working from the moment he enters the US on his approved immediate relative visa.

He can accept employment with a social security card which will be mailed to him automatically if he checked the appropriate box on the form given to the US Consulate.

I apologize if I gave the impression I did not read English. I was just trying to get confirmation. Apologies if I came across in an unintelligent light. I will direct my questions elsewhere in the future.

a_i,

I believe that Rete's comment about ability to read English was in response to aaronjamie.

It was the rest of her post that was in response to you.

Regards, JEff

Your husband can start sending out resumes any time he likes.

Rete's comment was to the other poster, not you. This is verified by the fact that she quoted him, and not you. Please reconsider joining us again... and if you knew how often I ask people to return, you'd know it was a rare occurence indeed.
