Hi Mark81

Can't speak for BritishGuy (obviously), but I had my medical before I had an interview date. Once you send in your notice of readiness form it shouldn't be too long until they notify you of your interview date. My notification came a week after submitting the notice of readiness, the DS-2001 (or LND OF-169 if it came direct from the London Embassy).

Hope this helps

Paul

If you read my account, you'll see that my medical was the day before my interview....that should answer that question!

Hi

Did you first of all book the medical and then send off the LND OF-169 (with the date of the medical noted)? I want to have both of the appointments consecutively since travel down to London is approx. 250 miles for me so don't have the luxury of making two separate trips. I notice on the LND OF-169 that they ask for the date of the medical? Did you just ring up the doctors office and set an appointment - then hope the interview is around the same time?

I assume I will probably get an interview within the next 6-8 weeks if I send off my readiness checklist now?

Thanks

It's one of the forms in 'packet 3'.

Guess at the interview date and put the date of the medical for then. Once you get the interview appointment letter you can ring the doctor's and make the appointment - they don't need that much notice, certainly not as much notice as the Embassy gives you.

Hi Mark

As BG states in his reply, the LND-OF-169 'Instructions For Immigrant Visa Applicants' comes with packet 3. This is the form where they give you the checklist for the documents you will need to provide, and you send it in when you have them, hence the 'notice of readiness'.

I was on an IR1 visa, so different to yours, but still an immigrant visa, so I would guess the same form...

2008-11-18: Arrive in the USA - POE = EWR (Newark/Liberty Airport)
2008-11-25: Take 'written' (computer) knowledge test and 'skills' (driving) test - PASSED - license issued with expiry of just under one year*
2008-12-03: Purchase and insure car
2008-12-10: Receive title to car
2008-12-15: Go to BMV and get plates for car
2008-12-16: Receive Welcome to America letter (I-797C)
2008-12-20: Receive second Welcome to America letter (I-797C)
2008-12-26: Receive Green Card

~~~~~
* My local BMV office and also two seperate calls (and I made sure I got different people each time) to the Ohio BMV head office in Columbus confirmed that as my only proof of LPR status (the IR-1 stamp next to my visa in my passport) expired in just under a year, I could only be issued a driver's license with an expiry date matching that on the visa.
I was told that once my 10-year green card arrived I could go back and they would issue me the 'normal' 4-year license.
Glad to hear you sold your house and made it to the USA. It was only the other week that we were wondering how it was all going for you! Nearly there ourselves (fingers crossed!!)
