The coach tickets were advertised in Sunday's People newspaper.
Have a look at www.laterooms.com They have lots of good prices on hotels.

Take a look at US Embassy Hotel Desk too for hotel rooms, they seem to have some good offers around the embassy (as well as the Park Lane mad priced hotels!):)

Also, you'd be advised to take an umbrella and a rain mack as the queue doesn't have any cover..!

I really need to know how long I will be at the embassy, I have a choice of 2 trains I can book, 3pm or 8pm, I am hoping I can get the 3pm one as our appointment is at 8? Is it possible we will be there after 3?

Really tough call to make - I expected to be there hours and I was in and out in just over one hour. However some other people were indeed waiting for hours. I think some of it depends on which day you go and how complex some cases are ahead of you etc

In the light of the above its very hard to advise you - we just dont know - you might be a couple of hours you might be as some other people are 6 hours.

I understand that if you go for the 8pm one you might be waiting around for hours there again if you go for the 3pm one you might well be really stressed during the day at the embassy if you are not moving through they system quickly enough.

Could you not book a flexible ticket - one which would allow you to get on any train? More expensive I know but worth looking into?

With an 8am appointment, you'll most likely be out within 2 hours or less. I've never heard of anyone being there past 1-ish (and this is more for people who are given appointments for 10 am or so). The vast majority of people are in the Embassy for anything between an hour and three hours.
I think it's quite safe for you to assume that you can take the train back at 3pm of the same day.

Good luck with your interview!

Thanks! I decided to take the chance and book the 3 O'clock train. I am hoping that I will get through it OK. Fortunately they have all our documents already so all I have to take is our passports, photo's and interview letter.
