Default London embassy processing times

Has anyone filed through London recently? What is your timeline like? I am doing the IR-1 spousal visa thing (NOT fiance') if that matters.

We filed DCF through London on September 24, 2002. We filed the packet 3 forms concurrently to save some time. My husband's interview was on December 20, 2002. The whole process took just under 3 months in our experience. I believe that the interviews are scheduled with respect to the anticipated date of travel you give them. The embassy was very helpful and friendly throughout the process and answered all my questions quickly through email. Good luck!

Our timeline:

9/24/02... Filed I-130, G-325, and Packet 3 forms
10/29/02... Petition approved at Embassy
12/02/02... Received interview letter
12/20/02... Interview at London Embassy
12/25/02... Activated visa in Cincinnati, Ohio

Wow, you did really well out of London, I'm jealous! They've had my Packet 3 forms since mid November, and we haven't heard anything since - we put an anticipated travel date of mid February 2003. And they haven't replied yet to an e-mail I sent the other day. Just as well as I resolved to be more patient this year!

DaveC,

The longest gap of time we had was waiting to hear something after the petition had been approved and getting an interview date. I think that security checks take some time to complete. Also, at one point I emailed the emabassy to see where our application stood because I was getting anxious (wanted to be able to travel home to the states for X-mas) and was told they were waiting on a visa number from the Department of State. This really confused me because I knew that the number of spousal visas were limitless. Anyway, someone on the board mentioned that although the number was limitless, the Department of State only issues numbers once a month (towards the middle of the month I think). I would think since you requested a travel date of mid Feb. you would hear something in the next couple of weeks. Even though in retrospect the time seemed short I hated the waiting, so I know how you must feel!

Good Luck!

P.S. I know most everyone who has gone through London has said this, but the interview is nothing to worry about. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at ease and comfortable!

We did it in 72 days from start to finish. I concur about the interview - they didn't ask me one question

Thanks for that BogieLarue, will keep all fingers and toes crossed that we hear from London soon.

All the best,
