London Consulate

This is a question for a friend who can't post here because her university
restricts newsgroup access...
She is the USC and her fiance is from England. They've filed through NSC and
are still awaiting their 2nd NOA.
From other's experience, they'd like to know - how long, from returning the
checklist to the London Consulate does it take on average to receive an
interview?
Thanks in advance![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

It depends if she opens a provisional file. If she does, the interview date
can be assigned very soon after they recieve her 2nd NOA. If she doesn't, it
can take 2-3 months to get a date.

My information tells me that they are not scheduling interviews now
until the security namecheck comes back clear. This is a change from
the past.

Ours is a dcf case so is slightly different but.. got interview date about 10 days after checklist.. it is well worth keeping in contact with consulate by email... asking them when it will be ready does seem to jolt them into action....
i heard quotes of 4 to 6 weeks so 10 days was fantastic....

Ours was a quick process, but we used the Vermont Service Center (which you'll find out if you read more in this group -- makes a big difference). But, the London Consular is great and opening a provisional file and making sure her fiance has gathered all his paperwork will also help speed things up. Feel free to direct her to our timeline where we detailed how to open up a provisional file, necessary paperwork, important numbers etc.
Good luck!
Good luck!

We opened up a provisional file BEFORE our I-129F (for K-1 visa) was approved. As you can see from our time line we were approved on 2/26/03 and had notification on March 12th that an interview was scheduled for April 1, 2003.

The security namecheck - is that what takes place when the approved I-129F goes to the NVC? And does anything else take place there?
Thanks,
Debbie
