Hey all,

As you're all so helpful, i just wanted to check I've got 100% the correct information, and any tips or pointers you may have. I've read the other posts, but getting a nod from one of you pro's means a lot.

We have completed the following forms, and will be going over them with a fine tooth comb this week before i file next week.

i130, i131, i485, i765, i864, g325a (x2) & G-1145 for e-notification

Going for medical next week to get i693 covered

Fee's:

i-130 - $535
i-485 - $1,140 + $85 Biometrics = $1,225

Questions:

1. - Is it best to write separate checks for each one, or just a single check for a total of $1,760? does it matter who's name is on the check as to whether it's mine or my wife's?

2. - Can anyone recommend what sort of other documents to send to show proof or relationship? I already have our marriage license and apartment lease, we're soon to have a joint bank account too. Any recommendations on additional documents/papers/photos etc. anyone's filed before would be appreciated.

I would write one check for the I-130 fee, and a separate check for the I-485 & biometrics fee. It won't be a problem if you write one check, either, but I would write two (just my opinion). That way, if you end up having any problems with either application, you'll have paid for them separately.

No, it doesn't matter.

You don't need to show proof of relationship. You need to show co-mingling of your lives together after marriage, if you have anything. Apartment lease showing both names is perfect. Joint bank account showing both names is perfect. Other things could be joint health insurance, joint car insurance, showing each other as beneficiaries on 401Ks, life insurance, wills, etc. Mail coming to both your names at the same address, joint utility bills, that sort of thing.

The G-325A is no longer used. It was replaced recently with an I-130A... so you need both an I-130 and I-130A.

Hey Ian,

I'm going through all my instruction pages one by one and validating everything. In the I485 instructions on Page 4, No. 8 - it still says to send in a G-325a - is this out dated instruction sheets, or is it worth putting one in, for me as the beneficiary at least?

The G-325a is evidently still used in conjunction with the I-485. It's not used anymore with the I-130.

Go ahead and include it...better safe than sorry.

Bam! docs done, heading to the fedex store on lunch to ship them off.

Checked, double checked, and triple checked each individual page. divided them up nicely with page headers and forms, I'm happy it's all there.

Now, hurry up and wait!

Package arrived on Monday just gone, had the 3 check's cashed yesterday - assume that's a good sign? had no email/text notification or letter of receiving/acceptance yet, assuming that'll arrive soonish?

You might never get a notice. It doesn't matter, though - they cashed the checks, which means the application was accepted for processing.
