Hi,
When my husband gets to the London interview, with his son....
1)what kind of documentation is needed to show that he has permission (from his ex) to bring his son to the US? I am filing for both.
2) Will a notorized letter do? If not....
3) Can a US lawyer draw up a letter of permission for his ex to sign?

Hi
Hopefully my information will help.
I was never married to my son's dad and we never had anything legally
documented about custody, support, visitation, etc.
My son's dad agreed to letting him immigrate to the U.S. I went to a
lawyer and got a two page document drawn up. It stated basically that
I had custody of my son. It also stated that his father was aware was
giving permission for his son to immigrate. The agreement was made
without duress. (Can't remember exact wording).
The lawyer signed and pressed it with one of those stamps. I signed.
Then my son's father obtained a lawyer who also signed and he himself
signed. HIs lawyer also pressed it with a stamp below his name.
This was suitable for the U.S. Consulate in Montreal. I think I paid
$130 CAD back in 2002. It cost my son's dad $50 CAD to get his
lawyer's signature.

If I had a job that paid me 50 dollars to sign my name, I wouldnt need to worry
about a joint sponsor.
