k3 in Spain
Hi,
I´m from Spain, and waiting for my k3
I got my 1st NOA from VSC on February 14th (I-130)
and the 1st NOA from the NBC/MSC on February 24th (I-129f)
I´m happy to find in this forum people from Spain, like Hypertweeky !
Do you know if I can do anything before getting package 3 , so I have everything ready when I get it ?
I already have both birth certificates (Do I need mine translated to english ?? ), the affidavit of support, and my new passport.
Anyone from Spain, how long was it since your petition was approved online till you got packet 3, appointment for the interview and visa ???
Thanks !!! ; )

Ironporer, I´m from Caceres. Do you live in Atlanta ?
I have a question ...
what are "all those certified copies" ? that you mentioned ?
Also, in the instructions of the Affidavit of Support (I-134) the evidences that the sponsor have to submit in duplicate...do they have to be both originals, or can one of them just be a simple photocophy ???
Thanks : )

My husband (from Spain), just went through the Madrid embassy in March for his k3 visa. He didn't need any of his documents translated into english. As long as they were in Spanish that was fine. Your documents can be either in Spanish or English. If you need anything else, any questions you can pm me. Take care and good luck!!

Also the Certificado de Penales- which needs to ne 3 months old or newer I believe. You get the form to request this from a estanco (~2 euros), then take it to the Ministerio de Justicia. We then took it to have the Apostille put on (not equired I think I read somewhere).
Regarding the I-134, I used copies of my Tax returns and W-2's along with a letter from my employer and a current paystub showing YTD earnings and there was no problem.
We translated everything ourselves (a "no-no" I have read somewhere), and they kept a copy- although they all spoke Spanish at the Embassy. Myself- just to be safe, I'd take translations- you'ld feel terrible if you had to go back after your interview for something s simple.
All in all, the Embassy was the easiest most enjoyable part of this whole process- they were really nice (and pretty fast too).
We've never been to Caceres, it;s kinda on the opposite end of Spain from Zaragoza....but I hear it's beautiful there. Maybe one of these years we can go to Badajoz, Caceres and Merida- It sounds fun.
Good Luck!!

Re: k3 in Spain
My wife is from Spain and had her K-1 visa interview at the embassy in
Madrid. She did not need her birth certificate, etc. translated into
English.
It was only a week or two after I got the letter about the approval that my
wife received her Packet 3. And after she filled out all the forms, they
scheduled her for 2 weeks later. So things will move fast once the petition
is approved.
One tip about setting up your interview. You may want to call them when you
get your Packet 3 and see if you can schedule your interview on the phone.
That may give you a little more choice on the date. It's a little bit of a
pain to get through however. I think you can only call between 2:00 and
4:00. My wife was able to do it get her interview date on the phone. But I
think they didn't let Hypertweeky do it. Maybe it's the difference between
K-1 and K-3.
As ironporer said, they are really nice at the embassy. So don't worry.
And good luck!

tomorrow I´ll go to the estanco and ask for the police records here in
Caceres, and next week that I have to go to Madrid, I´ll ask for them
there too. (I´ve lived there too). That will save me some time.
And good idea to translate everything just in case...better safe than
sorry !
I think the birth certificate has to be translated by a certified
translator, right ?
And thanks for the info about the Affidavit.
Eric, I´ve called that embassy number before from 2 to 4 pm and it´s
really difficult to get thru (I think I never succeed). But I´ll try to
schedule the interview on the phone. They have a new phone service other
than that one, I think.
I´m very glad to know Madrid is fast and they´re nice there.
Thanks !

Re: k3 in Spain
I went through Madrid for my K1 and can't praise them enough. They were fantastic to me, especially after I got robbed at the airport on dept and my sealed envelope stolen.
I never actually received the P3 or 4 due to awful post in my area so downloaded everything and scheduled the interview via phone.
I used the Anglo Americana for my medical who I also recommend. You can have the medical the day before the interview and get the results the morning of your interview.
Good luck.

Hey there
The police certificate is good for 3 months, If I were you I would wait until you get the NOA2 (That's what I did), so in case your case is on a delay you don't have to get another police certificate you know?. I hope you don't get any RFE's but you never know!!
You can apply for the police certificate in person or by mail.

Translations of documents in Spanish or English are NOT needed by the US embassy in Madrid, it states at the end of the checklist (Packet 3).
The Birth certificate DOES NOT need to be translated by a certified translator when dealing with the US embassy in Madrid (Like I said you do not need translations, but if You want to you can bring them). I needed my hubby's Birth certificate translated and apostilled by a certified translator in order to get married in Spain but this isn't the case
As for reaching the consular section.. keep insisting, you'll get thru. I was not able to schedule an appt until my checklist and Ds-230 were returned, Give them a call and ask
Take care!!
