Ayisha, Congratulations! I hope all goes well for you and your husband.

James, not to scare you more, but did you only send the 2001 tax returns, or also 1999 and 2000? You only list 2001 in your posting. I think the instructions on the I-134 asks only 1 year of returns, but Islamabad requires 3 years of returns.

Hi Omer!

Well I started working in 2001 so I only have 1040 for that year. Before that, I was a student. I think this would be ok. What do you think?

Regards,

JM

Hi Darren! I'm in Michigan, and I requested them from the office that serves my area (I can't remember which one, but it's not in California). As long as you need the tax transcripts ONLY, then it's free. It took about 3 weeks for them to send me my tax transcripts, and now I'm waiting for my W2s. However, I don't think I'll be sending those because I'm FedExing everything tomorrow, and they haven't come in as of today. If they do require them, then I'll spend the money and Fed-Ex them again.

Omer and James, thanks for the congrats! Omer, did you need the W2s? Do they really even care, as long as I have the tax transcripts? Do you think I would be able to fax them to the embassy?

DS-157 is only for male immigrants, so my wife did not have to fill it out.

They may have changed the instructions for tax returns for I-134, but we did require 3 years of tax returns. Since they have changed the police report requirements, it is not out of the realm of possibilities that they also changed the tax return requirements as well.

Ayeshas says that her instructions say she needs only 1 year of taxes. If so, then you are OK. However, if 3 years are required, I would send a letter to your wife stating that you did not file 1040's in 1999 and 2000 as you were a student.

Ayisha, I was missing my 1999 W2, nobody asked. If you have them available, it is a good idea to fax or scan/email them to your husband. It never hurts to be over prepared with extra documentation!

Thanks for the suggestion, omer! I'm so nervous right now, about this whole thing! I can't sleep right now, and I have work to do tomorrow! Argh! I'm still so excited, and I can't wait!

Hi Salooni!

Hey congratulations on the I130 receipt! Now comes the long dreaded wait for the K3 approval. Just make sure you send everything in and follow instructions to the dot otherwise you'll have to deal with RFEs which will delay the process even more.

My wife got her medical done so now we are just waiting for the interview. Time seems to be crawling at a snail's pace. Just want to hear good news after the interview. Will keep everyone posted.

Regards,

JM

Hi everyone!

Well, my husband has done his medical, picked up his ADIT pictures for the app., and applied for his last police report. I sent him my financial and supporting docs today, and they should be there (God willing) by Wednesday. We're in the same boat as you James, just waiting now...

Good luck everyone, and congratulations on your 130, salooni!
