Hi Ayisha!

Ditto on the feelings about this newsgroup!

I did think of having my wife call the Consulate but I feel itchy to know myself LOL! Think I'll stop bugging the Consulate for at least two weeks....give them more time and wait patiently. Lizzie is right, I am kind of jumping the gun.

Note to self: Patience is a virtue....Patience is a virtue....Patience is a virtue....

:P

James, I'm glad we're all in this together too. This newsgroup really helps, and it's nice to have other people in the same boat. Hopefully the embassy will start moving and your P3 comes in soon. You might want to have your wife call because it will be cheaper and she can call more often. That's the only reason i get my husband to call. He can keep tabs on everything.

Hi Lizzie,it took my k-3 180 days to be approved...i called the
embassy again the lady was helpful, she told me to contact a Mr Raja
who is handling the k-3.She told me to fax my info to him and ask that
he contact the nvc and ask them to resubmit my file,so i faxed the
info today, and now waiting on a reply. I will try as you have
suggested and ask for the consular section.

I now have a new problem...i called the nvc about my i-130 progress,
and they tell me they haven't received the 230 part 1 with the fee of
335.00$ i called my lawyer and informed me that it was sent...i called
the bank to see if it was payed , and they said no..now i have to stop
payment on the money order and redo this..I will be so happy when this
is all over and move on...thanks for the info...

Ayesha,

I would not stop payment just yet.

The payment goes to St. Louis, where it can sit for a few weeks. The folks in New Hampshire have no idea about the DS-230 until they St. Louis cashes the check and sends them the app. How long has it been? It took about 3-4 weeks for my DS-230 to reach New Hampshire NVC after I mailed the packet to St. Louis NVC.

Did you send the app to St. Louis with any delivery confirmation?

My timings are:

1st NOA: 9/10/2002
2nd NOA: 12/2/2002
NVC to Islamabad: 12/11/2002
-waiting for P3

So far, the Consulate is saying they have no info on our case in their computers. Judging by your timeline, we should be hearing something soon. I figure NVC sent a bunch of cases together to Islamabad. Islamabad is processing cases within that batch from earliest to latest. If they have gotten as far as 11/29 then 12/2 can't be too far [knocking on wood!]

Lets see what happens....

Hi Omer

i have a lawyer, i mailed all the info to my lawyer on the 14th of
november,i am guessing the latter part of november the info was sent
to the nvc. i will have to call my lawyer to find out the date of
delivery..

i will wait for another week and call nvc again to see if they have
any info.

Hello!

About the timings-like James, I think that they sent a bunch of files over together, and then one magical day, they'll think "Oh, there's a lot of files here-let's just rip right through them!" and then everyone will get a speedy and quick interview so that all of these couples can be joined for Eid...I know, SO not real, but I can dream, can't I?

Anyhow, what you might not realize is that there are three steps in the consulate itself. There's one room where the files are downloaded and processed. This can take anywhere from 1 to 10 business days. I'm guessing the holidays have backed it up even more, so it might be longer. Once it gets processed and the computers are updated, it has to be sent to another office where the data is looked at, packets are made, and interview dates are assigned. After that, the file is sent somewhere else, to wait in another pile until the interview itself. I called the embassy over the summer (around the end of August, when I was in Pakistan) and that's what the VERY impolite woman told me. So, James et al., we just have to wait until our pile is looked at and computers are updated, I believe...

Ayisha

1st NOA: September 30
2nd NOA: December 16
NVC sends file to Islamabad: December 30
P3: roming the halls of the embassy, taking no prisoners, and scouring the halls for helpless consumable paperclips.

January 23. I'm leaving for Pakland on Sunday. Wish me luck, and stay tuned for the juicy details.

btw, ayisha - experience has been that the embassy will say anything to skirt the issue of how incompetent and lazy they are at thier jobs. i had a consular officer tell me to wait for a couple of months because k3's were going thru delays. if they only knew how depressing that sounds to someone who's already been waiting for 6 months! eerie, aye?

Hi Ayesha!

Thanks for the scoop on the inner workings of the beast called the Islamabad Consulate! You are correct, we can only wait and twiddle our thumbs until we get word from the beast. I wish everyone godspeed in reuniting with their spouses!

Regards,

JM

Default akh

is it just me or does the K1 work faster than the K3? K3s are now taking more than 6 months sometimes.
which makes no sense cuz the K3 means u r applying for ur SPOUSE not fiance.
maybe i am overexagerating, but K1s seem to work faster

Hi Salooni110!

You are correct, K1s are quicker than K3s. My theory is that since K3s are only processed at MSC while K1s are processed in many different service centers, K1s are quicker.

Actually, it depends on the service center you're going through. K1s at the Nebraska center (which is servicing MY area) is slooooooooooow. I'm glad I went the K3 route , because otherwise I still would have been waiting for a NOA2.
