k3 multiple entry privileges
Hi all,
For those of you who are in the US on a k3 visa, could you please
answer the following question, when you leave the US to visit or go
home to see your family how long can you go for? Is there a maximum
amount of time you can be out of the US? And, I posted this second
question before but did not get a clear answer, maybe someone can
help....if I arrive in the US on a k3 can I apply for my EAD and then
go back to Canada and continue my job until my EAD gets approved?
Thanks in advance.
Nina

I wouldn't take this as gospel, but, the chap who handed me my K3 at the
embassy told me that it's like an 'extended tourist visa' and I could 'come
and go as I pleased'. I don't know if he was exaggerating, but that's what
he said. I guess he's probably right, but if you spend a lot of time out of
the country, be prepared to be asked about it during your interview for your
green card. That would be my concern, but then I'm not planning to leave the
US much.
Hope my perspective helps!

I activated my K3 visa at the border and "entered" the US on March 24. I then turned around and drove straight back to Canada for 3 months (with one visit to the US for a week in May). Meanwhile my EAD was pending. I had no trouble gettting back to the States. I have never been able to find any timeline stating how long one must remain in the States while on a K3. The above is just my own experience.
