Hello Everyone, My Canadian Husband received approval of his K3 Visa
On December 17th through the Vancouver Consulate. Our time line is as
Follows.

August 1, 2001 I married my husband while on visitors visa. WE had
Originally planned to live in Canada. Had a change of
Mind sometime in December of 2001
March 27, 2002 Mailed Application for I-130
April 02, 2002 Nebraska Service Center Received
April 04, 2002 Received NOA for I-130
April 11, 2002 Mailed Application for I-129f
April 15, 2002 Application was delivered
April 16, 2002 Requested RCMP Records
May 06, 2002 Received RCMP Report
May 21, 2002 Contacted my congressmen because I had not received NOA
for I-129f. I was advised that because I used a foreign
address the service center had not processed it.
I submitted an address for the US and waited.

May 29, 2002 Received 1st NOA for I-129f
August 01,2002 Received 2nd NOA for 1-129f active until 10/31/2002
August 17,2002 Received Packet 3 from Vancouver
Sept. 03, 2002 Faxed back DS-230 Part 1 Made appointment for Medical.
AT this point we realized we might have a
problem with the criminal records because my husband
had been
Arrested for possession of ½ gram of Marijuana when
He was 18. He received an absolute discharge and it
Was not listed on his RCMP Report but the Consulate
Seemed to want that information on the DS-156.
So we contacted Ontario where the arrest occurred to
get
Any records available. This arrest was 15 years
Old.
Sept. 26, 2002 Received Immunization record for his medical. He needed
1 shot for tetanus.
Oct. 11, 2002 He had his medicals and blood work revealed he needed
another shot for measles mumps and rubella.
Oct. 15, 2002 He got his shot and picked up the medical.
Oct. 30, 2002 Still did not have arrest records from Ontario.
We contacted Vancouver through email to request an
extension. They advised that I would receive and
extension once they received my application.
Dec. 01, 2002 Court Records from Ontario arrived.
Dec. 04, 2002 Mailed DS-156 to Vancouver. I had lost my husbands
certified birth certificate and sent them a copy of it.
And requested another from Ontario and told them it was
an emergency.
Dec. 09, 2002 Vancouver sent us a letter stating they could not
process with a copy of his birth certificate and to
send
a certified copy ASAP.
Dec. 10, 2002 Received Birth Certificate and Sent it to Vancouver
Courier.
Dec. 19, 2002 Received K3 in his passport from Vancouver
Dated December 17, 2002.


Did not realize how busy we have been until I typed this. We will be
so
glad when this is over. We would like to say that this group has
helped through this process in more ways than we can say. From knowing
what
to file next to coping with the wait.

Anyway here is my concern now. I am worried that he could still
be turned away at the POE due to the absolute discharge for
possession. It does not appear on his RCMP Record but we did disclose
to the Consulate. And he would disclose if asked about any arrest. I
do find it hard to believe that anyone could be punished for being
honest. But when we mailed all the necessary documents to Vancouver we
did it with a prayer. Ultimately we believed honesty was best policy.
As we make plans to return to the states later this month and he is
giving 2-week notice at work. My anxiety grows. I am thinking of all
the possible ways this can go and worse case would be that we leave
our home and his job for him to be turned back at the border. And then
Canada would possibly refuse me entry because I am here on a visitors
visa. So My biggest questions are..... What is the likelihood of him
being denied entry even after receiving a K3 Visa through the
Vancouver Consulate? Is it possible? Should we be making plans for him
to enter alone and I stay behind until were certain? Any ideas on the
best POE to enter would be great too.
