Default K1and premission for interview

I am courious to find out if anyone has any information to help better
understand my situation in reguard to my K1 visa. I am a Chinese
immigrant to Canada. I have applied for the K1 visa. I have completed
everything except the interview. I called the Consulate to ask the
status of my case, which had been in administrative processing for
four weeks, and was told that everything was there and processing was
complete. They also told me that I only have to wait for them to
schedule an interview date, which will be done after they receive
permission from Washington and they don't know how long this will
take.
Does any one know about the premission process and how long it takes.
I have seen timelines where many people seen to get their interviews
much earlier than me. Any infomation would be helpful. Thanks in
advance for your answers.

What legal status do you have in Canada. Are you formally on a Student type visa, a landed immigration or under refugee status? When you said you applied for the K-1, you mean your US citizen fiancee has applied for the Fiancee Visa by sending the I-129F to the service center. The I-129F has been approved apparently. Did you receive the packet from the US Consulate with the checklist and bio form and list of documentation you need? Did you complete the checklist and bio and send it back to the US Consulate? Do you have your medical complete and your police reports and other documentation? Which US Consulate are you using? Montreal or Vancouver? By administration processing they most probably mean that your FBI name check and your IBIS name check is being done. This is standard for all applicants for visas.

You can't judge other people's timelines by your situation as those people might be citizens of Canada, whereas you are not as you claim only to be a Chinese immigrant to Canada. This, in itself, might be the reason why your processing is taking a little longer than other people.

I know I didn't answer most of your question but asked many of you myself.

Hi Nina. I see that you just joined AAC. You will find some good info there and here. Unless you are a naturalized citizen of Canada, you will still be regarded as a Chinese national as far as INS/State are concerned. The only difference is that you won't have to deal with Guangzhou.

You will still be subject to the 'extra' security checks which may explain why you are taking longer to get through the process than others in the same area. Othere than that, you will still get your visa months before you could at GZ.

Good luck and hope you hear about your interview soon.
