K1 and VSC
First of all, I want to thank everybody for their support and congratulations.
This newsgroup has been a source of comfort for us, and I had wished that I
had discovered this group prior to my submitting the application. It would
have saved me much time and worries.
Okay, my timeline is as follow:
Me: USC
Fiance: Kim - German
10-28 Application sent to VSC via overnight delivery
10-29 Received at VSC ( confirmed by postal office tracking )
11-07 Check for fee posted ( called bank daily to confirm )
11-09 NOA # 1 received in mail ( with date listed 11-04)
11-13 I had realized through reading this newsgroup that 1) I did not submit a
letter that actually stated "I will my fiance within 90 days of her arrival" 2)
that Frankfurt is the consulate location where the interview will be conducted.
So I immediately wrote a letter explaining these discrepancies and sent it to
VSC
( with my file number included).
12-09 I had finally gotten through VSC phone line delay - the man on the phone
said that our case was still " pending. " He sounded annoyed.
12-11 NOA 2: I had checked the online satus and found out that our case was
approved with the date 12-10
Needless to say, I was in disbelief and shock when I saw that because I had
expected the approval process to be longer ( in reading the posts here ). I am
not sure if I had submitted something which helped or if the reviewer had a
good day when he/she reviewed our case. In fact, I had really believed that
our case would be delayed because 1) I did not write N/A or None in the
questions which did not apply to us 2) I wrote down the wrong consulate ( Bonn)
instead of Frankfurt 3) I did not include an front cover letter/outline listing
all the materials included with the application. Bad Bad Bad.
But I hope this time line will the people who are going through VSC some hope.
I am not experienced to give good advice, but I hope that will avoid my
"mistakes" when you submit your application Best wishes to everybody, and
happy holidays.
Yours truly,
Thoai.
