K1 vs K3 visa
I am in the process of trying to figure out the best way, that is,
without delays in processing the documents, to bring my fiancé into
the US from Uzbekistan. I have gotten several different opinions.
They say that K1 is faster because the K3 requires form I 130 which
takes longer - but the K3 itself is faster than the K1. I think I
understand that much.
Here is where it gets a little more complicated. If we file for the
K1, she has to go to Almaty, Kazakhstan for the process! Once we marry
in the states, she has to go back to Tashkent (or Almaty?) to complete
the process. That seems ridiculous! If we file for the K3 she can be
interviewed in Tashkent where she lives before she comes.
I know of a guy, Ron, who married in Tashkent, did the K3 and his wife
made it to the States in 6 months. His attorney quoted me $1,140 for
K3, 1 130 processing. Another guy who does K1's for $500 said he quit
processing K3s because it was too complicated and took longer for the
bride to arrive than if she was a fiancé'.
Anyone have good or bad experiences with either K1 or K3? Thanks in
advance!

Dharnie,
You have some misunderstandings. Go back and talk with those attorneys again.

Hi Dharnie
The choice to do a K1 or K3 is really just personal preference. The timing for each one is based on so many factors that it's hard to compare the two. I think, though, that you've been given some incorrect information. You should really do your own research - click the following link to read up on each method.

Best Wishes in whatever you decide. :-)

Dharnie
K1 will give you and your fiancé 3 months to get to know each other better
before you get married.
Just a suggestion.
