K1 visa approved - return of docs!
Hey guys,
Got my visa approved last week, I was only at the embassy for about 3 and a half hour, it all went well and the guy interviewing me was lovely.
He explained what is in the 'big brown envelope' that we get sent. It is basically all of our paperwork, and we get a CD, this is just the chest pics from the London medical.
It was such a great feeling, being told that my relationship was legit!!! hehe
I am slightly concerned now though.
The lady at the courier desk told me 3-5 business days to get the packet sent out, so I went on the DX courier website to see where my packet was in the delivery stakes. The reference number and post code I input were not recognised, so I emailed the courier company. They informed me that the details are only available online when they are in receipt of the documents. They also told me that the embassy generally takes 5 -15 days.
Has anyone had an experience with late delivery of documents?
I have my flight booked for late Oct, I just hope that my passport and visa are with me by then. 5 business days is up tomorrow!!!!

Yes, others have reported that it's taken longer than 5 days. Some people have waited 2 weeks for a normal delivery, longer if there have been issues.
Interesting that they put your x-rays on a CD! That's the first I've heard of that.

It's about time!
I've noticed that my dentist no longer does my tooth x-rays with film, he puts them up on a TV screen. The same TV that while I'm waiting for him is showing me all the great things he can do to turn totally mis-shapen or destroyed teeth into movie star perfect teeth.

So, when I went for my interview, I asked the (helpful) man what was on the CD, and he said it was the x-ray and stuff from the medical, I guess we are entitled to them as we did pay for the interview.

Another friend of mine had the same thing, she originally thought that we now get a CD instead of a brown envelope.

Hmmm I think it took closer to 10 days for my passport to be returned to me. In any case I checked the tracking information and it was quoting a much later date than when it actually arrived, so I wouldn't hold to much weight on what it does eventually tell you!

The tracking thing never worked at all for mine! I got mine very quickly but I know some people were waiting over 2 weeks earlier this year.

Just keep checking it and it will update regardless of the wrong number.
I really wanted to change the address for delivery, as no-one will be at the address I gave (what with this being day 6 and they did quote 3-5 ), they text me at 3:45pm, and you have to submit any changes by 4pm.

That is not actually what the approval means, it means that you have been cleared to apply for immigration status (adjustment of status) after your marriage, i.e. there is nothing in your backgroud either medically or of a criminal nature which will prevent this from happening.
