K1 versus K3 visa ?

I am really hoping that someone can provide me with some advice. I am
Canadian & I just became engaged to my fiance (U.S. Citizen). We have
decided that I will move to the U.S. The main point in all of this is that
he may get deployed to Iraq in August so we want to be married before that
time.
My question is:
Is it better for us to fly to Las Vegas for the weekend & get married...then
for me to come back to Canada & start the K3 (spousal) visa process?
OR
should we not get married now & file the paperwork for the K1 (fiance) visa
while I'm in Canada & he's in the U.S.?
My concern with the K3 (spousal) visa is that immigration may have a problem
with me entering the U.S. for the sole purpose of getting married & then
returning to Canada to tie up loose ends. I don't want the INS to question
the validity of our marriage. I want to make sure that we do the right
thing....but that we do it the quickest way possible.
Thanks!!!!!
