My fiance and I are marrying in January (before the 90 days expires).
It took 13 months to get her here :(. Can someone tell me how long it
takes before the first interview? I am in California if that matters.
Also, is there a good website that explains all the steps we need to
take - I thought it was simple but the iscis.gov site has cascading
forms and I would love to see a neat and accurate checklist.
Thanks!

It depends upon where you are in California. California is divided into three CIS districts: San Francisco, Los Angeles & San Diego. SF has suboffices in Sacramento, San Jose and Fresno. LA has suboffices in San Bernadino and Santa Ana.
You will have an early appointment for "biometrics" and one to get an EAD if you apply for one. Generally, you will have ONE interview for the green card.
The length of time taken is the time between filing and the date of your interview. Once you have both dates, computation of the length of time is quite simple.
You need you medical to file along with a completed I-864.
The CIS packet is actually quite complete.
Good luck.
