K1 Question

OK, I'm planning on traveling to Colombia in two weeks. I met a woman
there 2 years ago. But were just friends.
Now I want to go there and see if we can be more then friends.
While I'm there, should we decide to file a K1 when I return to USA,
for her to come here and marry. Can she sign any papers at this time?
G325a? any others? Do I need to get passport photos of her while
there? copies of ID, any thing?
thanks

Hi New1,

Yes. Gather whatever you can from her while you're there, so you don't have to be mailing stuff back and forth. Go to www.uscis.gov and look under Forms & Fees for Form I-129F. Read it thoroughly and see what the requirements are.

I did the same thing with my fiance. We filled everything out together while I was in Turkey, he signed what he needed to, and then I brought it all back and filed here in the USA.

Best Wishes,
Rene

I found this:
http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/fianceapp.htm

not much to bring back. Can't file the I-129f for a few months till my
divorce is final.
It says the passport photos need to be no more then 30 days before
filing. But how will they know if the photos are 3 days or 3 months?

Y'know... this sort of question never ceases to amaze me. The instructions say 30 days... what part don't you understand? Why can't you just comply instead of questioning whether or not you can get away with doing something else? Are you so keen to disregard the instructions? If you're going to put yourself through the hassle of bringing your foreign fiancee to the US, why not do it properly? Hey... why don't you just disregard the whole process? I mean, it seems obvious that you want to do things your own way!

Hi New,

Actually, I meant for you to click on the I-129F form itself and read the instructions for filling it out. It talks specifically about things you'll need to file as backup with the I-129F.

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsf...les/I-129F.pdf

Bring back what you can, and have her send you the photos within 30 days of when you want to submit the I-129F. The other things can be dated earlier.

Best Wishes,
Rene

They might not know. But you will know, and the first thing you learn when dealing with immigration is not to give them false information.
